Sally Tottle, MSTAT - author of “BodySense”:
Sally Tottle has many years of experience teaching the Alexander Technique to riders and others. She has written a number of articles for various equestrian magazines and newspapers, and her work has been featured on television.
Sally became involved with the Alexander Technique after a serious back injury left her in a great deal of pain and unable to ride. With the help of Alexander Teachers, Irvina Jackson, and Daniel Pevsner, FBHS and pupil of the Spanish Riding School, she started the long process of learning to ride again. Almost miraculously, Sally's back pain diminished and she found that she could enjoy the freedom of being on a horse again.
In 1988, Sally completed her three-year full-time training to become an Alexander Technique Teacher. She recognised that other riders, not just those suffering from pain and injury, could revolutionise their riding with the Alexander Technique. This is how the BodySense courses evolved.
From her home in the attractive border country of England and Wales, Sally runs the world famous BodySense courses for Riders, as well as providing general instruction in the Alexander Technique. She has developed her own applicational methods which have proved very popular with riders of all levels. She will teach you how to allow the body to find its natural balance, using the appropriate muscle co-ordinations, without the interference of habitual patters of tension and collapse.
Sue Nevill-Parker and her wonderful horses at the Arrow Equestrian Centre have hosted BodySense courses for the last 8 years.
