The Bowen Technique and Equine Muscle Release Therapy (EMRT)
I am Nickatie Tucker EMRT and Bowen practitioner. The information that follows tells you a little about what I do. Prior to this I have gained a HND in Equine science, a level 3 Diploma in anatomy as well as being an advanced endurance rider and having competed extensively with local riding clubs up to National Championship level.
The Bowen Technique (Bowtech) was devised by Tom Bowen an Australian who treated huge amounts of people in his own clinic with results that no one could believe. Bowen is a gentle non-invasive therapy that can help a wide range of muscular, skeletal, digestive problems, illnesses and many other things.
Equine Muscle Release Therapy (EMRT) was devised by Alison Goward, who is the director of EMRT, in 1990 in line with the principals of Bowtech. Alison ensures that practitioners undertake a thorough training program and they are bound by the strict ethics and code of conduct set out by The Equus College of Research, (Australia). The technique is the only accredited Bowen Therapy for horses world wide and has fifteen years of solid research behind it.
Bowen and EMRT are holistic treatments working on the central nervous system to bring the body it back into balance. It works on the connective tissue - fascia. This becomes hardened under stress or injury and restricted movement is then shown.
The technique is gentle and non-invasive but addresses every system in the body so its uses are endless. It involves a sequence of very gentle moves that stimulate the fascial tissue at key points in the body. Tissues return to a more flexible state and natural operation of the muscles, circulatory and neural pathways resume.
What I really like is that there are scientific principals behind Bowen and EMRT to back it up and give the technique the credibility it deserves. Veterinary permission is always sought with EMRT and we work with vets wherever possible to alleviate and help with problems. It is not a diagnostic tool but is designed to work with the bodies own healing mechanisms.
