Courses and Events: 2010 Dates for your Diary May June July August October Private Arrow Courses Individual riders and small groups are also welcome at Arrow Equestrian for tailor made courses for one or more days with or without your own horse(s). Alexander Technique lessons with Philippa Morrell are offered most days of the week and Feldenkrais work and Pilates with Sarah Merriam Pierce can be organised on week ends and holidays. Please contact us to discuss your programme. POA Feldenkrais, Lunging and Alexander Technique (FL&AT) courses These 1-Day courses have been running for some time and the combined energies of the three teachers (Sue NP, lunging and riding; Philippa Morrell, Alexander Technique and Sarah Merriam Pierce, Feldenkrais/Pilates) have produced some amazing breakthroughs. Each course focuses on a specific theme, (eg hands and contact, hips and pelvis) and enables riders to gain a greater understanding of how they affect their horses. Feedback forms included comments such as: "No back pain - brilliant!" "When is the next course?" "The combination of exercises worked really well." "It was amazing to make such huge changes in such a short time." The morning programme features group sessions, first on horses in the indoor school with Sue and then in the comfort of the therapy room, some dismounted work. You learn a little about anatomy and how the body works and explore movement patterns and possibilities with Philippa and Sarah. After a delicious lunch, the teachers works individually with each of you so that you can focus on specific problem areas. The dismounted work enables you to make the changes that perhaps you have struggled with for years and this is especially evident when you ride again later in the day. It is equally fascinating to see the breakthroughs experienced by your fellow students and with only 6 students per course the group dynamics add an extra dimension which makes learning fun and easy. Cost: £145 pp includes lunch (NB These courses have become very popular so book early!) Arrow schoolmasters provided unless you wish to bring your own. All courses at the Arrow Equestrian Centre at Weston House Farm unless otherwise stated. I love this week and each year it just gets better! It is great to work with friends, old and new, and see riders and horses achieving real breakthroughs. We have a wealth of specialist teachers and therapists, (all fully qualified in their field) who contribute to the success of the week. (See "teachers"). Ridden sessions include private lessons, work on the lunge and group sessions: flat work and jumping. They are taken mainly by me, (Susie NP) with additional help from Sue AW (when her busy schedule allows it) and Felicity who teaches ridden Alexander Technique sessions. The dismounted sessions - Alexander Technique with Philippa, Feldenkrais and Pilates with Sarah and Craniosacral work with Viv - are always very worthwhile and rewarding as are the theory sessions and demos. These usually take place in the evening so that additional (local) riders can join us after work and contribute to what is always a lively and informative evening which often continues over supper at a local pub. Arrow is also one of the very few places in Britain where you can learn about Long Reining and Work in Hand. Joy Morris has become quite an expert with all her training in Portugal and we have a growing number of students who have learnt the basics and want to do more. In the stables, Anita keeps everyone "up to speed" and is there to help and advise on just about everything. She also teaches TTEAM work in the stable and in the school. All in all, Arrow Week is a "must do" event which is a totally unique experience. Why not come for a day or stay for the week?
